YMCA Can Am Cup Finalists

Youth soccer excitement filled Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, during the YMCA Can Am Cup 2025, a two-day showcase of competition, camaraderie, and fun. Hosted at Grande Park at Market Commons, this event welcomed teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia, offering multiple levels of play for players to test their skills and enjoy the tournament atmosphere.


Representing Kingston United, the U10 Boys team delivered an outstanding performance. They charged through their division’s group stage with three consecutive victories, securing a spot in the finals. Though they narrowly missed the top prize, finishing as finalists was a testament to their hard work, teamwork, and commitment on the field.


“We’re incredibly proud of how our U10 Boys rose to the challenge,” said coach Paul Rhea. “They played with heart, supported one another, and showcased the kind of sportsmanship we value at Kingston United.”


From the coaching staff’s dedication to parents’ enthusiastic support, the weekend proved to be more than just a soccer competition. It was an opportunity for young athletes to form lasting bonds, hone their skills, and embrace the spirit of fair play. Kingston United Soccer Club made a strong impression at the 2025 Race City Classic, held March 1–2 across North Carolina and South Carolina. Hosted by Charlotte Independence, this annual tournament brought together U11–U19 Boys teams competing in Mooresville, Huntersville, and Cornelius (NC) and U11–U14 Girls teams in Fort Mill and Rock Hill (SC). The club sent five teams to face some of the region’s toughest opponents. After a weekend of high-energy matches and standout performances, Kingston United celebrated two division championship titles—one claimed by the U13 Boys and another by the U12 Boys Gold. Meanwhile, the other three teams fought hard and demonstrated notable growth, showcasing their resilience and commitment to the game. Known for its competitive field, the Race City Classic offered players an opportunity to refine their skills, learn from varied playing styles, and bond with teammates in a supportive, challenging environment. The club credits these achievements to the dedication of the coaching staff, the enthusiastic backing of parents, and the unwavering spirit of the Kingston United community. “We couldn’t be prouder of the passion our teams displayed all weekend,” said a club representative. “They rose to the challenge, supported each other on and off the field, and truly represented what Kingston United stands for.” Kingston United returns home with two new championships and valuable lessons from the tournament. The experience has energized both players and families, setting the stage for continued success in future competitions. We are excited to share that the Kingston United Soccer Club Boys U17 team, a brand new team competing together for the first time, has achieved an impressive finish as finalists in the DICK's Sporting Goods Invitational! The tournament, held on August 24-25, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina, featured numerous games across the region, making it a premier event for teams to jumpstart their season. With beautiful weather and a competitive atmosphere, the tournament provided a fantastic opportunity for teams and players to sharpen their skills and get back into the rhythm of the season. Despite being newly formed and playing their first set of games together, the U17 boys displayed remarkable teamwork, resilience, and talent throughout the competition, earning them a well-deserved spot in the finals. Their performance is a strong indicator of the promising season ahead, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and everyone involved in making this tournament a success. We look forward to witnessing more outstanding achievements from the Kingston United Soccer Club Boys U17 team this season!
